Kurt Dietrich Presents: Never Givin’ Up: The Music and Life of Al Jarreau
Al Jarreau was one of the great singers of the latter 20th and early 21st century. Born and raised in Milwaukee, by the age of four he was singing in public and was soon performing concerts in Milwaukee. Al attended Ripon College and the University of Iowa before heading to the West Coast, where he won six Grammy awards and became one of the most revered musicians of his generation.
This talk will follow Jarreau’s life, career and music, complete with musical examples. Special attention will be paid to his years at Ripon College.
Kurt Dietrich retired as a music professor at Ripon College in 2019 after teaching since 1980. He studied at Lawrence and Northwestern Universities and UW-Madison. He remains an active performing musician.
Books will be available for purchase. Kurt will be happy to sign your copy of his book!
