EARTH DAY FIBER FEST!

SATURDAY, APRIL 12 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM | ALL AGES | 10 YRS AND UNDER WITH ADULT SUPERVISION
Fast fashion, step aside! Transform beautiful fabric scraps into amazing creations, bring your mending projects for expert assistance, and acquire new skills along the way.
Fabric artists from Bungalow Quilting and the Quilted Underground will help participants craft a variety of delightful items, including bookmarks, tassels, bunting, pom poms, coasters, and jewelry.
Volunteer fiber enthusiasts offer support with creative mending solutions such as embroidery, patch, and appliqué embellishments. Bring those cherished items that you’ve held onto but haven’t used due to wear and tear. The team will guide you through the process with care, breathing new life into your garments and fabric treasures.
MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS!
WEDNESDAY STANDLEY discovered the colorful world of quilting in 2021 after moving to Ripon from Los Angeles. Her mother-in-law shared her wealth of expertise and years of experience and Wednesday hasn’t looked back. The combo of technical and artistic aspects of quilting, plus all the beautiful fabrics, have led her to become an enthusiastic member of the sewing community. She now works at The Bungalow fabric shop here in Ripon and started her own longarm quilting business, The Quilted Underground. She’s so excited to share some fun fiber crafts at the Ripon Library in celebration of Earth Day!
JAN RUPE has been quilting for at least 30 years with her favorite techniques being hand appliqué and hand quilting. Her skills also encompass machine sewing and machine quilting, which is how most of her many quilts have been created. As a retired school psychologist she very much enjoys working and interacting with children, so the Earth Day Fiber Fest at the library will be a doubly joyous experience!
SELAH DEVRIES fell in love with felting after visiting a shop in Pueblo, Colorado. Using wool in various colors, she spins mice, whales, stars, hearts, acorns, capybara, pig, owl, bunnies, bees, narwhal and more to life. As a homeschooler, she feels grateful for the chance to grow her creativity and share what she knows with you!
SAM RIVERS finds joy crafting and selling her designs through her business, Happily Bored. She is excited to share her experience and creativity with you while rescuing your well loved fabric treasures from the landfill!
